What's Different About Prandin®?

The timely difference of PRANDIN® (repaglinide) Tablets

PRANDIN® lowers your blood glucose levels by helping your body release insulin, like some other oral medications do for type 2 diabetes. But PRANDIN® is different from some of these medications that are taken once a day. Here's how:
  • PRANDIN® is taken before meals to help your body release insulin when you need it most - after meals
  • PRANDIN® works to reduce the surges, or "spikes," of glucose that occur after you eat
  • PRANDIN® leaves your bloodstream quickly; insulin levels return toward baseline before the next meal

Is PRANDIN® taken with meals and snacks, too?
PRANDIN® is taken before each meal, up to 4 times a day, as directed by your doctor. A meal is considered to be any combination of foods even those you may consider "snacks" that are eaten at one time and that add up to more than 240 calories. If you are eating more than 240 calories more often than 4 times a day, you may want to rethink the way you divide your calories and speak to a nutritionist.

When you take PRANDIN® with your three meals. It helps your body release insulin after each of those meals. Prandin® then leaves your system quickly so that insulin levels return towards baseline between meals and during the night.

Remember, only your doctor can determine if PRANDIN® is the right medication for you. The recommended dose range is 0.5 mg to 4 mg taken with meals. Patients who miss a meal (or add an extra meal) should be instructed to skip (or add) a dose for that meal. The maximum recommended daily dose is 16 mg.
