Expanding the focus of diabetes management
ACE/AACE* Consensus Conference Guidelines underscore the importance of establishing new goals for patients with type 2 diabetes-including PPG.

The panel recommends:
- HbA1c be universally adopted as the primary assessment of glycemic control-a goal of < 6.5%
- Laboratory assessment of fasting plasma glucose (FPG) - should target a value of <110 mg/dL
Plus:
Targeted 2-hour postprandial glucose (PPG) level of <140 mg/dL
